September 8-11
Today, Saturday, September 11, 2021, marks the solemn 20th anniversary of the terror attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon and the crash of Flight 93. This is a particularly difficult anniversary for many in the finance industry as the attacks struck at the heart of the nation's financial center. So many of us knew people lost on that awful day. They were our friends, clients, colleagues, or just phone buddies. It made what happened that day personal.
Several years ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. It was an incredibly moving experience to look out on the site where the plane crashed, to read the names of the patriots who saved countless lives with their bravery, and to spend time in the visitor center learning about them. If you find yourself traveling in or near southwestern Pennsylvania, I highly recommend you take time to visit the memorial.
